In a world filled with differing perspectives, backgrounds, and ideologies, it’s easy to assume we can interpret the move of God through the lens of our personal experiences, whether conservative or liberal.
But let’s be honest: God is far bigger than our opinions, louder than our voices, and deeper than our interpretations.
Often, we’re too quick to analyze everything, be it divine or diabolical, and rush to draw conclusions. And when we realize our conclusions may be flawed, we scramble to defend them with out-of-context Bible verses. What follows? Criticism. Arguments. Division. As though the Spirit of Christ is fragmented.
But Christ is not divided. His body is one.
If you don’t fully understand what you’re seeing, if a move seems strange or unfamiliar, pause. Don’t be too quick to criticize what you haven’t taken time to spiritually discern.
You don’t have to voice an opinion on everything. Silence is also a sign of maturity. Channel your energy into seeking understanding, not stirring controversy. Resist the urge to label and attack. Be slow to speak, slow to anger, and quick to listen.
Let us be led, not by emotions, ideologies, or groupthink, but by the Spirit. Let peace, humility, and discernment govern our responses.
My brethren, let us be led.
