Shall we take a moment to distinguish between lust and desire?
Sexual desire, in itself, is not sinful—it is a God-given instinct designed to find expression within the covenant of love and marriage, ultimately fulfilling God’s mandate for creation. After all, how can procreation occur without intercourse? And how can intercourse happen without desire?

For this reason, you shouldn’t feel guilty if the natural beauty of a woman catches your attention while walking down the street or if you happen to notice the physical appeal of those around you. These responses stem from natural attraction, which is part of our human design.

However, there is a critical distinction between natural desire and intentional cravings driven by lust.

Lust arises when desire becomes an obsession—when the pursuit of pleasure is detached from God’s purpose. While desire is divinely ordained, lust originates from the world because it seeks gratification that contradicts God’s design.

So, when faced with temptation, remember:

“The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.” — 1 John 2:17

Lust is fueled by the world’s fleeting offerings—shaped by physical appearances, size, structure, and texture. It thrives on the pride of pleasure, which does not originate from the Father but from the world. And like all worldly things, it will fade and vanish.

But whoever seeks to know and do the will of the Father—that person will abide forever.

May we choose the eternal over the temporary.
