Now in Peniel

By Shephard Victor

Then at Peniel, we read: “The sun rose” (Gen. 32:31).

On the surface, it’s a simple geographical location and the fact that the sun rose. But spiritually, it marked Jacob’s turning point – he had finally stepped into God’s light.

When God has called you as His own, He will never let you go. You may try to run, to succeed in your own way, or even chase after things that seem right to others—but His love is too strong to let you waste your life on trivial pursuits.

Remember Peter at the Sea of Galilee? There were plenty of fish that night. Other fishermen caught them, but Peter’s net remained empty. Why? Because God was redirecting him back to his true calling.

Maybe you’ve felt that same emptiness—whether in business, investments, or other pursuits. Others seem to prosper, but doors just don’t open for you. Friend, don’t be discouraged. That’s not failure—it’s God’s mercy. He’s keeping you from settling for less, because He has something far greater in store.

Like Jacob and Peter, God is drawing you back to Himself—because nothing compares to living in the center of His will.
